This weeks Global Design Project is a colour challenge and they have chosen three wonderful colours for us, ‘Real Red’, ‘Just Jade’ and ‘Garden Green’. These just scream Christmas to me and as I have not finished making my Christmas cards yet, this is the perfect opportunity to create something for those that receive a ‘Special’ card from me.
Christmas Jar Shaker Card
Every year, for Christmas, I have a vase which I fill with coloured baubles and lots of foliage. Holly, twigs, berries and much more. This has given me the inspiration for todays card.
Lets make the card
Cut a ‘Real Red’ layer of cardstock, measuring 10cm x 14.4 cm, and punch out a jar from the bottom middle, using the ‘Jar’ punch. Place a ‘Mason Jar Shaker Dome’ to the rear and fill 1/3 with ‘Sequins For Everything’. Place a piece of ‘Gold Foil Sheet’, measuring 10.2cm x 14.6cm, behind. I found holding it up-side-down easiest, so to get it central.
Using the ‘Forever Fern’ stamp set, stamp your eucalyptus image in ‘Real Red’ ink. Stamp on to a piece of ‘Whisper White’ cardstock, a mixture of different foliage images, using ‘Garden Green’ and ‘Just Jade’ ink and first and second generation stamping. Cut out your stamped images using the ‘Forever Flourishing’ dies. If you do not have the dies you can fussy cut.
Snip the stems off your stamped images, to allow them to sit flat to your ‘Mason Jar Shaker Dome’. Using your fingers, crimp and mould your images to give them shape. Arrange them onto your card front, changing around until you are happy with there placement. Once you have them where you want, adhere into place using a mixture of ‘Multipurpose Glue’ and ‘Stampin Dimensionals’. Only apply your adhesive to the bottom of your images, allowing them to stand proud and add texture to your card.
Tie a bow with ‘Real Red Sheer Ribbon’ and adhere to you jar with a ‘Mini glue Dot’. To finish your card front, cut three small foliage pieces from ‘Gold Foil Sheet’, using the ‘Forever Flourishing’ dies. Add these into your foliage and adhere using ‘Multipurpose Glue’.
Adhere your card front to an A6 ‘Thick Whisper White’ card base, measuring 10.5cm x 14.9cm.
