This weeks Global Design Project #GDP271 is a theme challenge – Winter/Holidays and what jumps to mind is a Snowman. Whether they be small and round or tall and slim, a snowman are always jolly. The ‘Snowman Season’ stamp set has a wonderful variety of happy snowmen images.
Juggling Snowman
For this card I wanted to recreate a background that I had seen done by the very talented Emma Goddard – The Coastal Crafter, using ‘Embossing Paste’. I love the way it adds texture and that its reminds me of ice and snow.
Cut a piece of white cardstock, measuring 10cm x 14.9 cm, and using a palette knife apply a thin layer of ‘Embossing Paste’, making sure you create lots of texture. Set this aside until dry.
Stamp your snowman image onto a piece of white cardstock, using ‘Tuxedo Black Memento Ink’. Cut this out using the ‘Stitched Nesting Labels Dies’, making sure that you line it up your snowman to the right hand side. To add some dimension to your snowman, use a ‘Light Balmy Blue Stampin Blend’ and ‘Colour Lifter Stampin Blend’ around the inside edge of your snowman. Colour his nose using ‘Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin Blend’.
Colour a piece of ‘Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon’, using ‘Light Balmy Blue Stampin Blend’, that is long enough to wrap around your card and create a bow. Measure a piece of ‘Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon’ the same length and layer your ‘Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon’ on top.
Pulling it all together
Once your ‘Embossing Paste’ is dry, wrap your layered ribbons around your card, about a third of the way from the bottom, and fix into place on the back. Adhere to a piece of ‘Balmy Blue’ cardstock, measuring 10.2cm x 14.6cm, and onto a white card base, measuring 10.5cm x 14.9 cm.
Trim off the left hand side of your ‘Stitched Nesting Label’ with your snowman stamped on. Place this over your ribbon, lining up the left hand edges, and adhere using ‘Stampin Dimensionals.
Tie a bow with your layered ribbon and adhere with a ‘Mini Glue Dot’. Add ‘Wink Of Stella Glitter’ to your snowman and finish with a few ‘Rhinestone Basic Jewels’.
