Hello and welcome to this weeks blog!  Hope you have all had a crafty week and are still enjoying this wonderful weather we have here.  I have been busy designing classes and trying to get my garden straight, though in this heat I’m not doing to well.

Beautiful Day stamp set

Today I would like to share a couple of cards we made at a recent ‘Cuppa and Cards’ event, that I hold weekly.  I chose to use the ‘Beautiful Day’ stamp set as I adore the bold lines of both the flower and the butterfly.  These are both fantastic for using all kinds of different colouring media.  I wanted to show how simple they were to use and that they are very versatile.  The stamp set has two sentiment, a ‘Happy Birthday’ and a ‘Thinking of you’, great basic sentiments for any crafter.

Using ‘Stampin’ blends’

Stamp the flower using ‘Basic Grey’ onto a piece of ‘Whisper White’ card stock.  Choose which colour, from the blends, you would like to use.  I chose ‘Daffodil Delight’ as it is bright and cheery.  Using the darker of your chosen blends, to add shadow, follow the line of the petals on one side.  Taking the lighter blends fill in the rest of the petals, over lapping the darker to blend them together.  You can go over this several times to give a more gradual/shaded effect.  Do the same with the leaves, using ‘Old Olive’.  Mat onto ‘Basic Grey’ cardstock, that is slightly larger than the ‘Whisper White’.  Layer this onto a ‘Whisper White’ card base, using ‘dimensionals’.  Stamp the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment in your chosen colour and add ‘Faceted Gems’ to finish.

Using ‘Brusho’

Stamp the butterfly using ‘Jet Black Stazon’ onto a piece of water colour card, slightly smaller than a card base.  Spritz with water using ‘Stampin’ Spritzers’.  Choose two or three of the ‘Brusho’ colours and sprinkle onto the water colour card.  Add more water, a little at a time, using the ‘Stampin Spritzers’ until you are happy with the result.  You can add more ‘Brusho’ if needed.  Leave to dry, before layering onto a ‘Basic Grey’ card base.  Finish by adding some ‘Metallics Sequin Assortment’.

I hope you have found some inspiration here and will pop back next Sunday for more.

Happy Crafting
