Hello and welcome to my blog. For todays post, I am joining the Global Design Project #GDP246 and they have a card sketch challenge for us this week.

Global Design Project #246 - Card Sketch Challenge #GDP246

I really enjoy a sketch challenge, as layouts can be something I struggle with. They allow you great opportunity for creativeness, whilst giving a solid base to work from. This sketch called out to me for an explosion of flowers and I knew right away that I wanted to use the ‘Basket Of Blooms stamp set and coordinating ‘Small Bloom‘ punch.

This is a fabulous floral stamp set that is marvellous for building up an arrangement of flowers. Whether it stamped, punched or fussy cut images. The plant pot, vase and basket all make wonderful vessels for holding your flowers.

My Rainbow Of Exploding Flowers Card

On ‘Whisper White‘ cardstock stamp two of each larger flower images, using ‘Highland Heather‘, ‘Balmy Blue‘, ‘Pool Party‘, ‘Mint Macaron‘, ‘So Saffron‘, ‘Calypso Coral‘ and ‘Blushing Bride‘ ink. This will give you four flowers in each colour. Punch out using the ‘Small Bloom‘ punch.

Stamp your plant pot image onto ‘Smoky Slate‘ cardstock, using ‘Smoky Slate‘ ink and fussy cut this out.

Using the ‘Well Written‘ dies, cut the “birthday” from ‘Highland Heather‘ and ‘Whisper White’ cardstock. Adhere the ‘Whisper White’ behind the ‘Highland Heather’ and slightly off to the side. This will create a shadow effect. Stamp “wishes”, from ‘Well Said‘ stamp set, onto a piece of ‘Balmy Blue‘ cardstock, using ‘Versamark‘ ink. Cover with ‘White Stampin’ Emboss Powder‘ and heat until fully melted. Trim to desired size and shape.

Cut a layer of ‘Soft Sea Foam‘ cardstock, measuring 8.5 cm x 14.4 cm. Adhere your plant pot to the bottom righthand corner. Add your flowers up and across your layer, starting with one and adding more to every other line as you progress.

Adhere your “birthday” die cuts onto your flowers and add your “wishes”, using ‘Stampin’ Dimensionals‘. Finish with a few ‘Rhinestone Basic Jewels‘.

Cut a strip of ‘Shimmery White‘ cardstock, measuring 1.5 cm x 14.4 cm. Using all inks used to stamp your flowers and a ‘Water Painter‘ brush, create a watercolour wash rainbow.

Create an A6 card base, measuring 10.5 cm x 14.9 cm, from ‘Thick Whisper White‘ cardstock. Trim 1.5 cm from the righthand side of your card front. Adhere your card layer onto your card front and your rainbow watercolour wash onto the right hand side, inside.
