Hello, you may be thinking how can you create a variegated leaf? Well, all will become clear. It’s time for the April Stamptastic Friends Blog Hop, and we are bringing you New or Retiring products. Well, this has given us a huge choice and left the scope wide open. We have lots of products which are retiring from both the Annual and the Mini Catalogues. As for new, I have my Onstage goodies, as I am still awaiting my pre-order. Unfortunately, it got held up at customs due to incorrect paperwork from another company in container. But it is on its way and may be here by the time you are reading this.

I have used a mix of new and retiring items to bring you a card that has the appearance of a variegated leaf. The star of the show is the upcoming Leaf Collection stamp. This is a single background stamp, that just cries out to be inked with a sponge dauber, to give a variegated appearance. I have paired this with the Online Exclusive Pets & More stamp set and a number of retiring colours.

Creating a Variegated Leaf

Ink up your Leaf Collection stamp using Parakeet Party ink. Using a Sponge Dauber, add Granny Apple Green ink to select areas. I have added to the middle of the fuller leaves to give the variegated leaf appearance. Huff onto your stamp to moisten and stamp onto a piece of Basic White cardstock, measuring 9.7cm x 14.1cm.

Repeat the above process and fussy cut the large fuller leaf image from the middle. This will be used later.

Emboss a piece of Parakeet Party cardstock, measuring 9.7cm x 3cm, using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. Lightly rubber over with your Granny Apple Green Sponge Dauber, this will allow the images to pop. Adhere to your stamped layer. Wrap with Linen Thread and tie with a bow.

Building your card

Trim a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock to 10cm x 14.4cm and adhere to the back of your stamped layer. Create an A6 card base, measuring 10.5cm x 14.9cm, using Thick Basic White cardstock, and adhere your layers to the front.

Stamp the parrot silhouette, from the Pets & More stamp set, using Tahitian Tide ink. Over stamp with the detail image, using Sweet Sorbet ink and fussy cut. Place your parrot within the fussy cut leaf and adhere to your card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Heat emboss your sentiment, in white, onto Crumb Cake cardstock and fussy cut or trim to size. I have used the ‘Hello’ from the Layering Leaves stamp set.

Finish your variegated leaf card by adding several blue Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins.
